I am currently preaching through 2 Timothy.
As is an exercise with me, I try to paraphrase the passage I am working on. This is a modest attempt to capture some of Paul’s glorious counsel to Timothy through the Spirit’s inspiration (to Paul, NOT me).

Yesterday I gave you my one-word (in most cases) summaries of the books of the Old Testament. The idea is to help in memorization and being able to quickly digest and keep the stream of redemptive history in mind.

As you know, the daily Scripture readings I list here, are the ones we as a Church are reading through, using the Discipleship Journal Bible Reading Plan. So many have commented on how they are enjoying it, and getting exposed to passages they’ve shied away from in the past. Awesome!
Since there are only 25 readings per month, we get a few days to play catch up and today I thought I’d give you just a few things to keep in mind as you are reading.

This weekend was our annual conference - as I’ve been blathering about for the weeks leading up to it.
By God’s grace, this year’s speakers were Michael Haykin - Principal of Toronto Baptist Seminary (see his excellent blog HISTORIA ECCLESIASTICA HERE) and the inimitable D. A. Carson (Research Professor of New Testament Greek - See CHRISTWAY MEDIA HERE) and it was a rich time indeed.
But the lessons I personally learned were more in observing the men themselves than the actual data they conveyed. And that’s saying a LOT, given the profound expositions and exhortations we heard. I’ll tall you more about it below.

“But he was wounded for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his stripes we are healed.”
In view of this coming Resurrection Sunday’s celebration - I offer you Isa. 53 in verse, for the sake of deepening our soul’s realization of Christ’s atoning work at Calvary.
